The Ravenite Social Club Snifter- The infamous Gambino Crime Family Social Club that dates back nearly to the start of the family. Founded in 1926 as the Alto Knights Social Club, the Little Italy club was a common meeting place for founding members of the mob such as Lucky Luciano, Albert Anastasia, and Vito Genovese. After Anastasia's assination in 1957 Carlo Gambino took it over and renamed it the Ravenite. After increasing scrutiny by law enforcement, Gambino stopped frequenting it and turned ownership over to Underboss Anello Della Croce where he would base his operations until the time of his death when it was taken over by John Gotti. Gotti, who's flamboyant lifestyle brought infamy to the club drawing robust attention of the FBI, NYC residents and tourists alike.. The building later became the site in which Gotti was recorded for numerous hours discussing family business in an upstairs apartment and was then raided in 1990 fianlly resulting in his conviction and life imprisonment.
