Gino's Cafe Snifter
Gino's Cafe Snifter
Gino's Cafe Snifter- Gino Cafe's Bar logo. The sponsoring bar of Joey Merlino and crew's softball team. The flamboyent and never camera shy Mob Boss like most celeberty gangsters captivated the public and the media. Dubbed the John Gotti of Passyunk Ave, Merlino's exploits such as Turkey Drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas, dinners for the homeless, and of coarse his Softball Team consisting of alledged Mob Members were closely followed by news cameras. Merlino and his crew rose to power in the Philadelphia Mob in the early 1990's after a violent and polarizing Mob War in the streets of Philadelphia with Sicilian Born Boss John Stanfa. Despite Stanfa's appointment to boss by the Five Families of New York, Merlino and his crew dubbed by the media as the Young Turks, all of whose Fathers, Uncles, and Grandfathers ran the Philly mob in the generations before them, felt the family and Philly Streets were their birth right and a Sicilian born gangster had no right to run an American La Cosa Nostra Family.
